As we close-out 2011, the biggest handset rumour surrounds Nokia’s next Windows Phone device – believed to be the Nokia Lumia 900. Now we have the biggest clue yet that an announcement is imminent. Read on for the full low-down.
Yesterday, a render was released of what the Nokia Lumia 900 is likely to look like – a larger Nokia Lumia 800, possibly with a glossy coating, and a fascia-filling 4.3-inch screen.
In addition to this, an earlier story suggested that the phone might come with an improved camera. The phone should also ship with the latest Windows Phone 7 update, code-named Tango.
Now we’ve had a strong hint that the phone could be revealed within the next three weeks. As Engadget reveals, Nokia has sent out press invites to a special event being held on January 9 – just a day before the big CES show kicks off in the US.

The invite is heavily Windows Phone-themed, with the familiar words “Witness the amazing everyday” emblazoned across the top.
As anyone with a telly and an interest in phones will probably know, that’s the same kind of language that Nokia employed (and continues to employ) in its Nokia Lumia 800 advertising campaign.
There are no further clues on the invite – just some blurb about “the latest news from Nokia” and “the future of smart devices”. Still, we’d be mighty surprised if all these recent rumours and leaks didn’t culminate in a Nokia Lumia 900 announcement on January 9. Watch this space.
