Rumours of the HTC Bliss have been buzzing around for months now, and a fresh batch of leaked photos appears to have confirmed a release for the very near future. So what is it, who’s it aimed at, and how will it perform? Here’s the current understanding.
3.7-inch screen
It’s expected that the HTC Bliss will comes with a 3.7-inch screen – so this isn’t another HTC Sensation or HTC Evo 3D-style behemoth. Rather, the emphasis is on being compact and decidedly middle-of-the-range
800MHz processor
That philosophy appears to have informed the processor choice too. In fact, the HTC Bliss’s likely 800MHz processor looks a teensy bit underpowered to us, with the new standard for mid-range phones fast becoming 1GHz. Still, the rumoured Adreno 205 GPU should ensure that video and gaming performance is snappy enough.

It’s for girls
This is the whole (slightly questionable) point of the HTC Bliss – it’s HTC’s attempt to woo a female audience. That might sound odd, but it has its foundation in some kind of statistical logic – Android users are predominantly male. HTC’s solution to this imbalance appears to be to release a mid-range green smartphone.
Wait – green?
Yep, HTC figured that the ideal colour to lure in the female crowds would be a pearly shade of green. It’s an unusual move, but at least they didn’t opt for bright pink, eh? All in all, it means that the leaked pictures (from XDA.cn) of the device remind us of a cross between an HTC Desire S and a Nokia N8. Considering we like the style of both, that has to be a good thing. Right?
Shipping with new Sense UI
Probably the most exciting news about the HTC Bliss is the rumour that it’s set to ship with the very latest version of HTC Sense – HTC’s user interface that distinguishes its phones from the rest of the Android crowd. According to PocketNow, it’ll be known as HTC Sense 3.5. Will this be like HTC Sense 3.0, found on the HTC Sensation, but with the fancy 3D effects removed? We’ll have to wait and see.
