Pictures of a new iPad part have emerged from China, suggesting that the iPad 2 will be available in white. Read on for the details.
The picture is of a tablet-sized ‘digitiser’ – the bezel that immediately surrounds a mobile device’s screen. On this occasion the fascia part is pure white, suggesting that Apple has solved the headaches involved with manufacturing white iDevices (we’re still waiting for our white iPhone 4).
The part also appears to contain a gap for the iPad 2′s widely expected front-facing camera (which’ll be used for making video calls through FaceTime) and one for a home button, further suggesting that rumours of the home button’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Earlier today we reported that a similar front bezel part, seemingly for the iPhone 5, had been spotted. That too appears to possess a slot for a home button, refuting earlier suggestions that Apple is set to rid its devices of physical controls in the near future.
Provided both device parts are the real deal, of course.
