LG E900 to feature fastest mobile CPU yet? 1.3GHz Snapdragon incoming
By Andrew on August 31st, 2010
The Windows Phone 7 launch phone, the LG E900, will feature a super-snappy 1.3GHz Snapdragon processor, known as the Qualcomm QSD8650A to people who know far too much about these things. Could this make the LG E900 the fastest phone yet?
The LG E900 is expected to be one of the first Windows phone 7 handsets to hit the deck later this year, but will it out-pace its rivals? With the HTC Desire, iPhone 4 and Google Nexus One having set 1GHz as the clock speed standard for this generation, it’s unlikely that Microsoft will let any Windows Phone 7 devices fall below this standard.
A leaked video of the LG E900 reveals that it smashes through the status quo with a next-gen 1.3GHz processor, which could potentially blow the Samsung Galaxy S’s 1GHz Hummingbird chip — the current top dog — off its pedestal.
However, Qualcomm has already revealed that 1.5GHz dual-core processors are on our doorstep, suggesting that 1.3GHz chips won’t keep on impressing us for too long. Will the march of processor progress ever slow down? If these latest reports are true, it sounds like it is only just getting its pace on.
