Vodafone has kicked off its annual contest to find the UK’s best mobile internet startup. The Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 contest is open to all mobile entrepreneurs in the UK, with a €150,000 kitty up for grabs, including €100,000 for the winner alone. Entries for Vodafone Mobile Clicks will be judged on a range of criteria, including originality, creativity and innovation. The contest is open to any startup with a great idea for a mobile site, service or application.

Once entries have closed in a month’s time, Vodafone will whittle the selection down to five finalists, who will then see their ideas being deliberated over by a team of judges, including All About Symbian editor Rafe Blandford.

The winning regional entry will then represent the UK against Portugal and Spain in a live three-way shootout at the PICNIC festival in Amsterdam.

Previous winners of the contest, which launched in 2008, include the popular augmented reality app Layar, and the competition is now the biggest mobile startup competition of its kind.

Entry for Vodafone Mobile Clicks closes at midnight on 22 August.
