iPhone 4 UK stock shortages revealed
Just 16,000 iPhone 4 handsets are available today in the UK, compared to the 60,000 that were expected, according to a major mobile retailer.
It’s no surprise that people queueing for the iPhone 4 have been turned away left, right and centre. According to a major mobile retailer, only around a quarter of the expected amount of iPhone 4s were delivered to the UK for today’s launch. Where 60,000 units were anticipated, only 16,000 were received.
These shortages aren’t just affecting Apple Stores, but carrier outlets too. It’s likely that thousands of iPhone 4 fans will go home without a a shiny new iPhone 4 in their hands today. Even with the full 60,000 units, Apple would have struggled to cater for demand, but the low availability of the phones will have exacerbated the situation massively.
Were you turned away from a queue due to a lack of stock? Let us know.

I planned to get my iPhone 4 on o2 from the carphone warehouse. Yesterday I received the so called ‘exclusive email’ detailing which stores would have a share of the 16000 handsets in addition to the list they also provided a link, which informs you of particular stores opening times. The store I went to was in Richmond and it was supposed to open at 9:30 I got their at 9 and at that point the phone was already sold out on o2 and orange and they were down to a few vodafone handsets. The scale of the problem was further made clear to me when a random motorcyclist came up to me and asked about the store’s stock and when I told him it was sold out he replied “Great that’s third store today”, this all before the store was supposed to open.
All I can say is I’m very very very x20 disappointed, I really do not understand how a company worth billions can only provide so few handsets, I really do suspect they’ve held back to handsets Generate ‘Hype’ !!!News f**king flash Apple!!! There already is Hype around your products so just hurry up and roll em’ out and make the people happy

I’m just disappointed that it’s the 1st July and there has still been no word on stock in the UK. Most retailers have no idea when they are expecting stock and websites are misleading, they are slow to update and phone lines to companies are engaged with customers trying to place orders. It’s sad that the launch date has been and gone and we still can’t buy one. The longer I wait the less I feel it’s worth the hassle.
