Following the launch of Android 2.2 yesterday, HTC has released a vague statement about upcoming updates. It doesn’t say much, but it does say it’ll be coming to the Desire.
Android 2.2 adds a stack of worthwhile features to the Android OS, including a new Android Market and the ability to install apps to the SD card, but will it be coming to your Android? If you have an HTC Desire the yes, you’ll get an update some day. We’re not sure if owners of other Android phones will be as lucky, yet. Here’s what HTC said —
“if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models.”
When will these updates start landing? This year, according to HTC —
“We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can’t be more specific yet.”
More news on the timing of the Android 2.2 updates will start to land as the dates creep closer, so come back for more Android 2.2 news. Android 2.2 will hit the Google Nexus One first, giving it the upper hand on the rival HTC Desire.
