Android 2.2 Froyo features full flash support
Google’s own Andy Rubin has confirmed that the next version of the Android OS, codenamed Froyo, will feature full Flash support.
Google’s VP of Engineering Andy Rubin made the comment in an interview with The New York Times. This tasty revelation will give Android an invaluable boost to keep up its tech cred against its arch rival the Apple iPhone, as it heads into its fourth iteration, expected this summer.
What Rubin has not revealed is when we can expect Android 2.2 to land, and whether or not most current devices will have the memory to take on this update. Last year’s hugely popular HTC Hero is still waiting for an Android 2.1 update, and the hefty updates offered by Android 2.2 will result in further fragmentation of Android devices.
That said, we can’t wait to try out the new version of the OS. To see what we think should be included in the update, read our Android 2.2 wish list.
