The LG Cookie Fresh GS290 has been officially announced and will available in the UK later this month.The LG Cookie Fresh is a cut-down version of the LG Cookie Plus, with a 3-inch WVGA touchscreen and an accessible interface built around large icons. Its feature cuts are most evident in its lack of 3G connectivity and its 2-megapixel camera, which is pretty puny whichever way you look at it.

On the positive side, the LG Cookie Fresh features an FM radio and the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, allowing you to plug your headphones in without worrying about a proprietary adaptor.

The original LG Cookie has proved a huge success since its original release in 2008, selling more than 12 million handsets. The LG Pop has taken up the budget baton for LG more recently, so it’ll be interesting to see how close the LG Pop and LG Cookie Fresh sit next to each other on the price scale.
