The UK pricing of the Apple iPad has been leaked, with the cheapest model coming in at £389. Not quite a direct converson of the $499 US price, but not too bad.
Gadget website Geeky Gadgets claims to have received a tip off from someone close to Apple about the iPad’s pricing, so these prices may be a fabrication, but they sound on the money – if you’ll forgive the pun.
According to the tip off 16GB Wi-Fi version is set to sell for £389, the 32GB Wi-Fi edition £439 and the big daddy 64GB £489. Here are the US prices converted to sterling by today’s rates – £326, £391, £456. We’re paying around £40-50 more than the direct conversions, so we’re not going to get done over too badly.
No prices for the 3G versions have surfaced yet, but they’re set to arrive later than the Wi-Fi editions anyway. The latest release date rumours suggest that the Wi-Fi iPads will hit the shelves of your local Apple store in April, rather than March as previously thought. £400 may be a lot of money, but we’re sorely tempted.
