SDK suggests iPhone 4G will have front-facing camera, zoom and flash
iPhone rumours are always to be treated with some suspicion, but the latest iPhone 4G rumblings suggest that it’ll have a front-facing camera, and feature a flash and zoom capabilities.
These revelations are hidden in a camera controller module within the iPhone SDK 3.2, where “Flash”, “FrontCamera” and “Zoom” are referred to directly. These seem to be lines of code checking the hardware, which could simply be there as an artefact from earlier design specs, but the video call accept and reject buttons also found within the SDK add some weight to the theory that these features will appear on the iPhone 4G.
Although it’s the most-used phone camera according to top photo upload site Flickr, the Apple iPhone’s camera is notoriously not that great, even when compared to other cameraphone. We don’t think that the next iPhone will do a 180 and become a cameraphone to compete with the top 8- and 12-megapixel models of 2010, but a simple flash and zoom combo would improve its capabilities significantly.
The front-facing camera is rumoured to support video calling and video chat, and these new SDK nuggets only add weight to these already solid rumours. We think its inclusion is a strong possibility.

It’s about time! What would make it great if it had at least 6 megapixels, anything more than 6 takes up to much memory anyway.
