Alcatel OT-808 budget clamshell revealed
Another Alcatel has been revealed following the shower of handsets seen at Mobile World Congress 2010. Some say the Alcatel OT-808 looks like a netbook, but we think it’s more like a makeup case…
Clamshell phones are nothing new, but the almost-square dimensions of the OT-808 when it’s closed give it a quirky look that’ll attract and repel in equal measure. It’ll be perfect for the bargain basement buyer looking for a Qwerty phone, although we’re going to check out the OT-808 first-hand before hailing it as a BlackBerry beater.
The only price we have at present is a US one, $125, but once it arrives here you can expect it to be among the cheapest phones out there. After all, its feature set is pretty basic. There’s no 3G, no Wi-Fi and only a limited 2-megapixel camera, but as a phone for the kids or a pure texting machine, the Alcatel OT-808 looks just the ticket.
Thankfully, it looks a bit more normal than the similar, odd-looking Huawei U8300. No Alcatel OT-808 release date info has yet been revealed.
