Motorola Milestone here next week

Written by Linsey on December 1, 2009 – 9:30 am No Comment

moto_milestoneMotorola Milestone Day is set to be 7 December – just like we predicted last week. Motorola’s own Milestone microsite is linking to a product page on online retailer Expansys saying the Android 2.0-rocking phone will be heading out to eager customers in just four working days.

The Motorola Milestone (or Motorola Droid as it’s know across the Atlantic) is being offered by Expansys for £449 SIM-free. For that you get 3G web browsing, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.7in capacitive touchscreen and a  five megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 480p video recording.

But potentially iPhone-slaying as those hardware highlights are, arguably an even bigger attraction is Android 2.0, with the Motorola Milestone the first handset to appear running the very latest version of Google’s mobile OS.

Among its key new features is support for turn-by-turn sat nav, and the Milestone will launch with a 60-day free trial of Motonav – a turn-by-turn app based on Google Maps.

We’re still waiting for networks to jump on board with contract deals, but if the 250,000 phones shifted in the Motorola Droid’s first month on sale in the US is anything to go by, the Milestone won’t be short of takers.

While you’re waiting, why not read our rundown on the Top 5 Android handsets available right now?
