The HTC HD2 stock at Vodafone’s UK stores has sold out due to unprecedented customer demand. It’s estimated that shelves will be fully emptied of the Windows Mobile-packing smartphone this Friday (11 December). Read on for the full story…The HTC HD2 has proven to be the sleeper hit of the mobile world this year – so much so that Vodafone has run out of stock of the fully-stacked smartphone.
However, a decision has been made by Voda to not replenish stocks and concentrate instead on its smorgasbord of 2010 smartphone offerings – which will, of course, be headed up by the iPhone 3Gs.
Ia a statement issued by Vodafone today, the carrier defended its decision to not re-stock after fulfilment of pre-orders, saying: “We are not re-stocking the HTC HD2 for general consumer sales once current stock runs out. We have had a massive amount of interest in it, and our initial stock sold out quickly. Subsequent deliveries have been used to fulfil backorders, but we are not looking to re-stock the device.”
Voda went on to explain why the HTC HD2 wouldn’t be making a return to its line-up, saying: “Looking at the range of smartphones we have, and with more coming over the next few months, including the iPhone, we’re confident that we continue to offer the broadest range of devices to our customers.”
