LG promises touchscreen Android phone and more watchphones

Written by Linsey on November 12, 2009 – 11:00 am 19 Comments

LG GW60The LG GW620 may just have popped its lovely little Android head over the parapet last night, but a spokesman for LG has let slip that it’s planning more Google-powered goodies in 2010. And also some spanking new LG watchphones to sweeten the deal. Read on to find out more…

The LG GW620 is set to get a full touchscreen little brother in 2010, as well as a litter of new watchphones for the LG brood. At a special blogger event in London last night, John Barton, UK sales and marketing director for LG confirmed that LG’s QWERTY Android foray would be joined with a full touchscreen version next year.

It’s not clear whether this would be the Snapdragon sequel that LG has previously confirmed, but our money’s on a superfast 1GHz processor with keyboard, plus a keyboardless touchscreen model released alongside the “mature” GW620 follow-up.

And the LG watchphone family is also set for some new additions in 2010 – we’re promised more styles to complement the existing GD910. After teasing us with this tidbit of information, LG remained tight-lipped on details, but we can’t wait for some more Buck Rogers-style LG arm candy to take us into 2010…

  17. LG: More Android smartphones and wristwatch handsets coming 2010 | Android Arena Says:
    November 18th, 2009 at 7:12 am

[...] At a special blogger´s event in London, LG´s sales and marketing executive for the UK, John Barton, has revealed part of the plans of LG´s cell phone division for the next year. He stated that LG would release an Android-based cell phone in 2010 and the device would come without hardware keyboard, unlike the manufacturer´s first model running the mentioned OS, the LG GW620. Unfortunately, Mr. Barton didn´t disclose any other details about it, so it´s still unclear if the device is to be equipped with 1GHz Snapdragon processor like we told you some time ago. Android has been all the rage on the cell phone market for some time now, so it´s quite likely that LG rolls out more than just one device with the operating system in 2010. It seems more wristwatch cell phones are on their way as well. The information about them is sketchy indeed, but we do hope the new range includes an affordable handset, because the current model, the LG GD910 is far too expensive. source: FoneHome [...]
