Written by Linsey on November 24, 2009 – 3:00 pm No Comment

Nokia_6700The Nokia 7230 and 6700 Slide have burst onto the scene today. In what’s turning into a busy old month from Nokia, the Finnish handset maker has announced another two new slider phones. Read on for the lowdown…Let’s start with the  Nokia 6700 – it runs Symbian S60 and comes in a choice of six colours, with a speciality in social networking thanks to a host of multimedia features under its pretty bonnet.

Leading the way is a  five megapixel camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics, a dual LED flash and dedicated camera button. With editing tools on board, and easy uploading to social networking sites, sharing your happy snaps with loved ones is simplicity itself.

On the music front, the 6700 makes all the right noises thanks to its FM radio and a battery that is good for 29 hours of audio playback. It also features 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA, and comes in a choice of aluminium, pink, petrol-blue, red, lime or purple.
You’ll be able to pick one up in the first quarter of 2010 for around €160 before any taxes and subsidies.

The Nokia 7230, meanwhile, has a more rounded look and has Symbian Series 40 ticking away under the hood.

Another social networking specialist, the 7230’s 2.4in screen is ideal for keeping up to speed using Nokia Messaging, Ovi, Flickr and Facebook.

3G capability ensures fast data transfer, with an impressive two weeks of battery life on standby, or four hours of talktime. Like the 6700, FM radio is built in, as is a 3.2MP camera with dedicated shutter release.

The 7230 will break cover next year at about the same time as the 6700, but is expected to go for a pre-tax €100.

Nokia has already been prominently in the news this month over its imminent high-end Nokia X6 and Maemo-powered Nokia N900 smartphones, and the Vodafone-exclusive Nokia E72.
