Microsoft promises WinMo 7 details in March
Microsoft is cranking the anticiption-meter for Windows Mobile 7 up to 11 by announcing that it will make an announcement on the subject at its MIX 2010 conference in Las Vegas in March next year. Can’t wait that long? Read on for more juicy WinMo 7 news…
No, we won’t actually get WinMo 7 in March – that’s when we’ll find out more about the product. Our breaths are bated…
To be fair, that “announcement” is likely to be an in-depth look under the bonnet of WinMo 7 given that MIX is an event for developers and designers, which is significantly more than the leaked screenshots and snippets of information we’ve had thus far.
Despite the Windows Mobile 6.5 having patched over the cracks from 6.0 and 6.1 when it broke cover a few months ago, and turning up on handsets such as the HTC HD2, most WinMo fans are looking forward to a new full version of the mobile OS.
On top of the obvious interface overhaul, it will mirror the Windows 7 desktop version by adding multitouch support, and will also come with a new version of Office Mobile.
The full version is expected to start appearing on handsets in Q3 2010.
