Google Earth iPhone app gets major update
The Google Earth app for the iPhone is getting a bit of an update to its service, meaning it’ll talk nicer with your PC. Read on for more Google-flavoured treats…
Google Earth for the iPhone is the one of the most popular applications in the iTunes App Store, and the big news in Google Earth 2.0 is the ability to view maps that you create on your desktop PC.
By logging in directly to your Google Maps account on your Apple iPhone, you can now view the same maps as on your PC using the My Maps interface. Any journeys you’ve planned and saved on the computer are now synced automatically between the two.
Google has also increased Google Earth’s global appeal by expanding its language support from 18 to 31, while version 2.0 also brings improved icon selection and performance. When you touch an icon, a small glow now appears under your finger so you can see which icon you’ve picked. If your finger touches more than one, you’re taken to a list of all available icons, from which you can more accurately select the one you’re interested in.
As before, Google Earth is a free download, and is available from the App Store now.
