LG GW620 Android phone: hands-on picture gallery

The LG GW620 Android handset has arrived! Well, arrived to a top-secret blogger event in London at any rate. We got some hands-on time with the little beaut, so that you could feast your eyes on all its slide-out QWERTY gorgeousness.

We were super-impressed with the LG GW620’s sturdy build – the 5-line QWERTY slider felt solid and dependable in our grasp. And even though this was a pre-production model, we were pleased by the reponsiveness of the touchscreen – even more so when we found out it was reactive rather than capacitive like the iPhone’s.

The Coverflow-style media gallery makes gaping at all your media a case of simple finger swipes, while swiping between different Android widget-heavy homescreens was a painless process.

Web browsing seemed slick and intuitive, using the venue’s WiFi, although we didn’t get to check out 3G browsing, being two floors undergound and all.

During our short time with the LG GW620, it looks as though LG’s first foray into the Android arena is a promising addition to the growing Google-powered marketplace – keep it here for a full lowdown when we get our mitts on a review unit…
