iPhone owners at risk from new hack
iPhone owners could be at risk from a new hacker tool that can copy all their personal data from their handsets. Which is a lot more frightening than a Rick Astley wallpaper. Read on to find out more…
Poor old iPhones – not only have they been exposed to a worm that changes their wallpaper to an image of ginger 80s crooner Rick Astley, but it now seems there’s a more serious piece of malware that could swipe all personal deets from your handset.
While the “ikee” worm seemed nothing more than a bit of a developer lark, this iPhone hacker tool takes advantage of the same hole in the iPhone’s defences, allowing hackers to connect to any jailbroken iPhone whose owners have not changed the root password.
Then your iPhone’s info such as email, contacts, SMS, calendars, photos, music files, videos and well as any data recorded by any iPhone app is there for the taking. Ulp.
Hackers using the tool will install it on a computer, where it will then scan the network until it finds a jailbroken iPhone, breaks into it, then steals data and records it.
So, jailbroken iPhone users – watch out for shifty-looking types when you’re in a WiFi area, and whatever you do, change that root password!

Those crafty Starbucks folk. They’d steal your ID over the hotspot, then use it to buy a latte!

Ah the perils of jailbreaking. Personally, I’m counting the days til I can get O2 to unlock mine… there aren’t that many apps I’m desperate enough for to warrant the full jailbreak.

Jailbreakers will get their comeuppance … oh yes, their comeuppance I say!

David Blanar Says: “Jailbreakers will get their comeuppance”
What are you on about? Why should there be any comeuppance for wanting to unlock the full capabilities of the iPhone? I’m jailbroken, but every app on my iPhone is bought/paid for/legal.
Jailbreaking happens for more reasons than just wanting free warez! Personally, I now have a timed settings profiler, a customised home screen, a memory manager, and a happy iPhone
