palm-pre-expansysThe Palm Pre is an O2 exclusive in the UK, but if you’re desperate to own one and use it on another network you now can: gadget retailer eXpansys is offering the mobile phone SIM-free and unlocked.

Shell out a princely £499.99 and you can own your very own Palm Pre to use on any network. According to eXpansys the unlocked Palm Pre handset carries only Palm branding, and will work on any European GSM network with any SIM card.

The Palm Pre is the first phone to carry Palm’s webOS software. It also sports a 3.1-inch touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, GPS, 3-megapixel camera with LED flash, 8GB of built-in storage, Wi-Fi and 3G.

Palm recently revealed that it will be following up the Palm Pre with the Palm Pixi, a more affordable, BlackBerry-esque mobile that will launch in the US in November.
