The Nokia N97 Mini may have been given a release date last week by none other than Nokia itself, but that was for the SIM-free handset. Never fear, because you can now pre-order Nokia’s miniature smartphone and get it for ‘free’ on contract. Read on for all the details…
Vodafone’s been busy making announcements left, right and centre today. What with the BlackBerry Storm 2 and Samsung H1 it would have been easy to miss the news that the Nokia N97 Mini has just gone up for pre-order on the phone company’s site. And up for pre-order it is, with a delivery date of October 29 pencilled in.
So what exactly is the deal? Well, you might be getting used to Vodafone’s pricing plans now: sign up to a two-year contract on a monthly tariff of £35 or more and you’ll get the handset for ‘free’. With that you get the unlimited texts, landline calls, emails and internet access thrown in. What’s more, sign up online and you’ll get an extra 300 minutes talk time. You can’t say fairer than that.
So what’s the big fuss about the N97 Mini? Well imagine that someone’s taken a Shrink-o-matic ray gun to the Nokia N97, and created an equally packed-out handset, only a lot more pocket-friendly. It’s still got a five-megapixel camera and that awesome flip-out QWERTY keyboard, and still looks stunning. Elsewhere the screen’s been downsized to a 3.2-inch effort. Likewise the storage is now down to 8GB (but that is expandable up to 16GB).
All in all a desirable handset. But before you make up your mind if you want it, check out our hands-on video first…
