So you’ve peeped all the deets on the BlackBerry Storm 2, Research In Motion’s hi-tech touchscreen blower. Want some juicy photos to wash that info overload down with? Read on for our paws-on pictures right here to see if it’s the smartest smartphone on the block.
Even before we powered on the BlackBerry Storm 2, we knew it had a touch of class about it. Like a Ferrero Rocher, just sitting it there on the table is almost satisfaction, thanks to its smooth front and snugly fitting, swanky back. But we hit the On button up anyway, and from our first few prods, we’re not disappointed.
Setting up pimped out push email for instant alerts was a piece of Victoria sponge, so we dived straight in to the media player on the mobile phone to test out music and movie playback. Videos look gorgeous on its 3.2-inch screen, and we can already tell it’s going to be tough to keep on working on the train with the BlackBerry Storm 2 by our side.
Where it beats other BlackBerry numbers though is with the connectivity it shoves in. Only the chubbly BlackBerry Bold has both 3G ultra fast broadband and Wi-Fi built in so you can browse on the cheap in the hotspots – until now that is. The BlackBerry Storm 2 packs ‘em both in without breaking a sweat, and it makes hopping around online via the BlackBerry browser a cinch, wherever you are.
It’s not just the Wi-Fi that helps the BlackBerry Storm 2 best its predecessor though: the new SurePress screen’s as smart as the love child of Albert Einstein and Carol Vorderman. It works like the original Storm when typing – you push down on letters and icons to confirm – but you can scroll around easily with swipes, and best of all, the screen goes rock solid when you power off. That means no damage when shut off in your pocket, and less chance for pesky gubbins to clog it up.
