Flash, ah-ash! It saved every one of us! Well, mobile phones at least. Flash Player 10.1 has just been announced and it will be available in beta mode for Windows Mobile and WebOS before the end of the year, and Android and Symbian mobile phones in early 2010. Why should you care? We’ll tell you…
Flash Player 10.1 will be the first full Flash Player available for your mobile phone, offering what the company calls “uncompromised web browsing of expressive applications, content and high-definition videos”. What this means is support for multi-touch, gestures, mobile input models, accelerometer and screen orientation, all of which will make your internet-browsing experience on the fly quicker and more user-friendly.
The other good news is that Adobe also announced a joint collaboration to bring Flash Player to BlackBerry smartphones. Because sometimes suits need a bit of fun as well. Although we don’t imagine it’ll be available on your highly addictive emailing device until next year
More good news is that with Adobe leading the way in the Open Screen Project, which includes around 50 leading mobile phone manufacturers and developers, you can expect Flash 10.1 to make its way onto a whole host of handsets in the near future.
