The Sony Ericsson Satio is one super–charged smartphone. This bad boy has it all. Finger–friendly touchscreen, space for thousands of tunes and movies and a compact camera smashing 12.1-megapixel snapper. So can it it live up to top billing? Read our Sony Ericsson Satio review for the full lowdown.
Heave the Satio out of its box and you can almost feel just how high–end this handset is. This is no lightweight mobile phone, and it’s not slim either. But then you can’t squeeze in a compact grade camera and expect this to have iPhone–alike looks. It’s far too clever for that.
The 12.1-megapixel camera is, as you’d expect, stunning. The Sony Ericsson Satio takes crisp, clear pics with modes likes beach, snow and sports, that you’d expect to find on a regular snapper. The Xenon flash means it works a treat at night, although you may want your regular peeper as back up if you’re attempting some truly ambitious after dark pics.
Where this new Sony Ericsson mobile phone really sees off it compact cousins, though, is the web. Thanks to HSDPA and Wi–Fi, you can easily shovel your efforts onto Facebook, Twitter and Picasa faster than Jenson Button can lose his place at the top of the F1 pile.
But this is way more than just a camera phone. In fact, the Sony Ericsson Satio is as good an all–rounder as Freddie Flintoff. There’s space for a 32GB SD card, making use of the killer Walkman app meaning you’ll never need an stand alone MP3 player again.
But like the mercurial Fred, there are some niggles that stop of the Sony Ericsson Satio from playing to its full potential every time. The touchscreen looks a peach, but requires a lot of prodding and doesn’t fare well against the likes of the HTC Hero. Likewise, the Symbian S60 software feels as outdated as a night out in London’s Shoreditch. It’s passable, but can be bested.
All round though, Sony Ericsson has created one of the best blowers out there. With all those features, you’ll have no need to give your pals any attention. Except when taking their picture, of course.
